Can you integrate with our EHR?

Most EHRs offer HL7 v2 interfaces or FHIR APIs; Epic, Oracle Health and athenahealth all publish FHIR APIs. What's possible depends on your EHR version, the APIs your organization has enabled and the vendor's approval process, which we assess in the technical consultation.

How is patient data protected?

PHI handling is designed in from the start: encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, audit logging, and hosting on HIPAA-eligible cloud services covered by a business associate agreement with the provider.

Do patient-facing apps need to meet accessibility standards?

Yes. HHS's 2024 rule under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act adopts WCAG 2.1 AA for the web content and mobile apps of organizations that receive HHS funding, so patient-facing tools should be designed and tested against it.
